AnimaWings continues its growth strategy and strengthens its position in the Romanian aviation market by expanding both its fleet and scheduled route network. The airline has welcomed its eighth Airbus aircraft and, starting in mid-July, will launch five new direct routes from Bucharest, Timișoara and Cluj-Napoca to key European business and leisure destinations.

The newly delivered Airbus A220-300 will support the launch of direct services to Rotterdam, Copenhagen, Vienna and Frankfurt, responding to growing demand from both business travellers and Romanians travelling frequently to communities across Western Europe.

From 13 July, AnimaWings will operate the Bucharest–Rotterdam route twice weekly. On 15 July, the airline will inaugurate direct flights from Timișoara to Copenhagen and Timișoara to Rotterdam. From 17 July, AnimaWings will also launch direct services from Cluj-Napoca to Vienna and Frankfurt, with both routes available in Business Class.

This expansion reflects the airline's long-term strategy of developing strong regional operations. Following Bucharest, Timișoara is now established as AnimaWings' second operational base, with two aircraft and locally recruited flight and cabin crews. Cluj-Napoca is the next focus for expansion and is expected to become another operational base in the coming seasons.

All new routes will be operated as full-service flights. Every ticket includes free standard seat selection, an 8 kg cabin bag, and one personal item of up to 4 kg.

Fleet Grows to Eight Airbus Aircraft

With the delivery of the Airbus A220-300, registered YR-DUN, the AnimaWings fleet now consists of eight Airbus aircraft: six Airbus A220-300s and two Airbus A320s, all delivered directly from the manufacturer over the past 18 months.

The Airbus A220-300 features a 148-seat cabin in a comfortable 3+2 configuration, offering both Economy and Premium Economy seating. The first 12 rows provide enhanced comfort with extra legroom and adjustable headrests.

Designed with passenger comfort in mind, the aircraft also offers wider seats, large panoramic windows, LED mood lighting, oversized overhead bins, and individual USB charging ports at every seat.

Beyond passenger comfort, the Airbus A220-300 delivers significant operational advantages, including up to 25% lower fuel consumption and reduced CO₂ emissions compared to previous-generation aircraft.

Growth Plans Through 2027

Founded in 2020, AnimaWings continues one of the most ambitious expansion programmes in the Romanian aviation market.

The airline plans to grow its fleet to 14 aircraft by the end of 2027, supporting the continued expansion of both its scheduled and charter operations. Its strategy is focused on strengthening Romania's connectivity with Europe's leading economic centres while operating one of the youngest and most modern Airbus fleets in the region.
