AnimaWings, a 100% Romanian full-service airline, officially launches the direct Bucharest–Munich route, offering passengers fast access to one of Europe’s most important economic and industrial centers, with efficient connections to the entire Bavaria region and numerous international destinations.
Scheduled services begin on April 2, 2026, with year-round operations.
Full-service onboard experience for Bucharest–Munich flights
The Bucharest–Munich route is operated by AnimaWings with six weekly flights year-round, except Saturdays. The schedule is designed to meet both business and leisure travel needs, including morning departures (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and evening flights (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays), with an average flight time of approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes each way.
Passengers benefit from a full-service onboard experience, with Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class travel options. All fares include free seat selection, an 8 kg cabin bag, and a 4 kg personal item. Flights are operated with modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, configured with 137 seats (12 Business Class and 125 Economy), featuring a dedicated business cabin and recently introduced into the company’s fleet.
“Munich is one of Europe’s most important economic centers, and Bavaria has strong ties with the Romanian business environment. Numerous companies with local operations have their headquarters in this region, generating consistent demand for business travel. By launching this route, we facilitate mobility for the business community, the Romanian diaspora, and the urban and cultural tourism segment. Munich is a major hub for international companies and diverse industries, as well as an important gateway to global destinations.
Operating at Munich’s main airport provides passengers with fast access to the city and the entire region, as well as efficient air connections to other international destinations. We aim to offer a premium, full-service alternative for passengers seeking comfort, efficiency, and a superior flight experience. We have allocated aircraft with a dedicated business cabin for this route, allowing passengers to enjoy high onboard service standards,” said Marius Pandel, CEO of AnimaWings.
“With the addition of AnimaWings flights, our airport welcomes a new airline and expands its route network with another direct connection to Southeast Europe. Bucharest is becoming an increasingly attractive destination for both leisure and business travelers. This new route strengthens our airport’s international connectivity and offers our passengers more appealing travel options,” said Oliver Dersch, Senior Vice President of Aviation at Munich Airport GmbH.
The connection from Munich Airport “Franz Josef Strauss” (MUC) to Marienplatz (the main square in the city’s historic center) takes approximately 40 minutes via direct suburban train, compared to more than 100 minutes from Memmingen Airport, where passengers must first take a bus and then a train. Travelers heading to the city’s central railway station can also reach it in around 40 minutes by direct train from Munich Airport.
AnimaWings currently operates regular flights to major European airports with consistent frequencies. In addition to established destinations such as Paris (CDG), Stockholm (Arlanda), and Istanbul (IST), in the coming months the Romanian airline will launch new direct flights from Bucharest to major European cities including London Gatwick (from March 22), Geneva (from March 30), and Milan Malpensa (from May 11), as well as from Timișoara and Cluj to Athens (starting April 5). These routes complement the expanded AnimaWings network, which reaches a total of 56 destinations.
