- 6 weekly frequencies, hot meals included for all passengers, and fares starting from €64.99/one-way
Bucharest, September 23, 2025 – AnimaWings, the 100% Romanian-owned airline, marks a new milestone on the local aviation market by introducing direct flights between Bucharest and London Gatwick, starting March 22, 2026. The new route will operate with 6 weekly frequencies (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday). Currently, the company is the only Romanian full-service carrier providing direct connections between Romania and the United Kingdom, following the withdrawal of the state-owned carrier from its Heathrow route.
Tickets are already available on the airline’s website and through partner agencies, with fares starting at €64.99/one-way. The fare includes: cabin baggage, free seat selection, hot meals onboard, and free online or airport check-in.
“Romanians deserve respect and quality. We believe there should be an air connection to London that reflects the standards of Romanian aviation. The results and enthusiasm of our customers for our full-service flights show that Romanians want a viable alternative to low-cost travel—flying in better conditions, with more comfort and greater value. By launching the direct Bucharest–London Gatwick route, we are bringing back the aviation experience of the past, with complete services and comfort for all passengers. We have included hot meals onboard this route, regardless of fare class, because we want to deliver a far superior experience tailored to the business and leisure travel needs of Romanians,” said Marius Pandel, President of AnimaWings.
The flights will be operated with modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft, configured in three classes: Business, Premium Economy, and Economy. All passengers will enjoy hot meals included, an important differentiator on the local market.
The operating schedule has been designed to also meet the needs of the corporate segment, with the option to purchase corporate subscriptions. Gatwick Airport holds a strategic position, offering a fast rail connection via the Gatwick Express, linking directly to London Victoria in just 30 minutes, as well as easy access to South London and the city’s main business districts.
London Gatwick – the 23rd scheduled route announced by AnimaWings
“AnimaWings is a national project — we could not miss opening flights to London, home to the largest Romanian diaspora. That’s why we are meeting our customers’ needs with this new service to London Gatwick, a comfortable airport with an international reputation,” added Marius Pandel.
London Gatwick Airport has recently won the ACI Eco-Innovation Award for environmental excellence, being a modern and accessible airport. It also offers an extensive network of international connections, along with modern infrastructure, lounges, and facilities for both business and leisure travelers.
Romania–United Kingdom is among the most in-demand air routes: in 2024, over 3.67 million passengers traveled between the two countries. London remains the number one destination for departures from Romania, with approximately 1.48 million passengers. Moreover, the Romanian community in the UK exceeds one million people, making Romania the second most common country of origin among London residents born outside the United Kingdom.
The launch of the Bucharest–London Gatwick route represents another strategic step in strengthening AnimaWings’ position in the international market. The airline is constantly expanding its European network, adding London to its key hubs, alongside destinations such as Munich, Prague, Tel Aviv, Istanbul, and Dubai.
